Born and raised in Lugano, with the exception of the university years and various professional experiences abroad, Paolo Morel, born in 1968, is the founding partner of PM Group.
After 8 years in the banking sector, an experience as CFO and then as manager of some of the main private trust companies in the Ticino market, Morel decides to start his own business. In 2009, he set up PM Consulenze SA, the first company of the PM Group that specializes in business and tax consultancy at the service of entrepreneurs and businesses. An independent and dynamic activity able to respond to a mutable market context and to do so with the right conditions and the necessary added value.
Over the course of a few years, the company developed its resources, workforce, and projects and consolidated itself on the Ticino market as one of the main players in its sector.
After two years of pandemic, how are Ticino and Switzerland doing? How do you imagine the future?
Switzerland and the Canton of Ticino have also suffered during the last two years of pandemic. Many have lost their loved ones to the virus, and this remains the most tragic element, because it is irremediable. Moreover, the restrictions have weighed heavy on social relations, as well as on the economy. Not without some initial hesitation, those who hold the reins of our country have responded to these challenges with resolve and courage. At short notice, unprecedented support measures were put in place to support the population and the economy, both at federal and cantonal level.
Even at municipal level, within the limits dictated by their respective competences, the City of Lugano has been far-sighted, supporting the most vulnerable citizens and SMEs with targeted interventions, especially those working in distribution and in the public sector. This ability to react quickly has made it possible to contain the damage caused by forced closures, the absence of international tourists, and the lack of events, just to name a few.
At the moment, I can say that we look to the future with confidence, we desire a return to normalcy that allows us to live our lives fully. There is optimism and a desire to begin anew.
